Project overview
In 2020 Tongwei supplied the smart-restroom scheme for the star-rated public restrooms in Tianhe District, Guangzhou. The sites include a mother-and-baby room. Each restroom uses one management host to join stalls, air, lighting, fresh air and floor washing. Squat and seated toilets sense occupancy, flush when the user leaves, and drive an outside indicator; the entrance screen shows free stalls. Fresh-air deodorising starts when air quality exceeds its limit. Lighting does not follow a sound-activated timeout: lights stay on while any stall is in use, and turn off when illuminance is already enough, so a stall does not go dark mid-use and daytime lights do not idle. Floors wash automatically on separate male, female and accessible circuits, and stalls have automatic drying, so cleaning starts when the user leaves rather than when a cleaner arrives. The sites share the Tianhe smart-restroom platform, where free stalls, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, footfall, water and electricity can be read together; cleaning follows traffic and odour, not only a fixed roster. Eight of the restrooms were built to the same configuration: about 94 squat pans and 15 seated toilets.
